Tyre fires are extremely difficult to extinguish with just water. A standard High Pressure hosereel as fitted to modern appliances can pour hundreds of litres onto a tyre fire to extinguish it where as the IFEX system needs only a few litres by comparison. In the video the tyres are quickly (and genuinely) suppressed with only 4 Litres of water,which put out the fire in just 10 Seconds!!!.
